After taunting us for weeks with redacted press releases and cryptic commercials, Taco Bell finally reveals its newest product: the Quesalupa. It's like a taco, only with a puffy, fried chalupa shell... Only that shell is stuffed with cheese that oozes out with every bite. You can pick one up for $3 starting tomorrow.
In the meantime, check out that cheese pull:

Taco Bell, the fast-food chain that helped you justify your Hobbit-like (or possibly drunken) 2 a.m. desire to scarf bean burritos—hey, it's the fourth meal!—is launching a whole new menu item on what's possibly the biggest binge-snacking night of the year: The Super Bowl.
The company's staying pretty tight-lipped on what the new food will be, releasing one incredibly cryptic press release with all of its key details redacted, which makes it essentially like playing a game of Mad Libs to figure out what's going on. Here's what we do know:
- "It's the first time in [blank] history that [blank] and [blank] are coming together," suggesting a food mashup of some sort. It's already conquered Sloppy Joe-esque sandwiches, nacho fries and seafood salad, which makes us wonder what the next frontier will be: Asian fusion? Taco Samosas? Pulled pork BBQ burritos?!
- "We've taken delicious [blank] and placed it [blank] to create the next craveable food innovation you can only get at Taco Bell," makes us wonder if this is a food-within-a-food, like the quesarito or Double Decker taco.
- The ad will run during the first quarter of the Super Bowl, so you can finally exhale—and enjoy heaping mounds of lasagna dip, slow-cooker queso and all of the other gameday snacks that you were too anxious to try until you knew THE NEWS.
- They'll probably spill the (refried) beans before then: Fans will get to try the new item in February, and if the size of the redaction is any indication, it will be Feb. 1-9. It seems like poor marketing to offer the dish 'early' two days after the Super Bowl ad airs, so it seems likely that sleuth-y superfans will be able to check out—and maybe even secretly order the item—before the show.
Taco Bell will be leaving clues on its website, Ta.co, leading up to Super Bowl 50, and revealing a hashtag to use to follow the release. You can check out the full press release here:
The brand has been no stranger to high-profile partnerships, like the Doritos Locos and Beefy Fritos Burrito, so this could be an opportunity to showcase another Meeting of the Meals, or the next iteration of the chips-in-a-taco schtick.
Considering the brand has experimented with a taco shell made out of fried chicken, maybe it's time for shells made out of other foods, like a bacon-weave shell (okay, maybe too time-consuming for a business that relies on drive-thrus) or—in a healthy twist—a kale "shell"? Or, building on our undying love of the Choco Taco, perhaps dessert nachos? What do you think? Or better yet, what would you like to see on T-Bell's menu?
At this point, it's anyone's guess.
