Sweet foods often take center stage in the fall. There's pumpkin pie, cider donuts, caramel apples — the list goes on. There's no shortage of the sugary stuff as we enter sweater season. Personally though, I'm all about savory fall dishes. Root vegetables, when roasted, are so sweet and delicious, and they pair perfectly with chicken, beef, or pork. It's the hearty food you crave when the temperatures start dropping.

This cider glazed chicken couldn't be more fall. It utilizes two fall favorites: apples and sweet potatoes, and pairs them with crispy chicken thighs. What really makes this recipe special, though, is a sweet and tangy cider sauce that you'll be sopping up with bread when all the chicken and veggies are gone.
The best part? You can do it in just one skillet! Start with searing the thighs — they'll probably need more time when you think. Don't worry too much about burning them — when they're done they'll release from the bottom of your skillet. Next, deglaze the pan and make your sauce. Return the thighs and add the veggies and put the whole thing in the oven. Fall flavors at your table in no time!
