It's not even November yet and Starbucks has already started dropping its beloved holiday cup to stores across the country. And despite the brand's best effort to keep the new cup on lockdown—they're sealed in boxes that say "no peeking until November 10"—oneReddit user revealed the design on imgur with the caption "I peeked."
We're cringing not just because it's so damn early to debut the winter theme (I mean it's only Halloween!) but because of the cup's history.
If you spend any time at all on Twitter last year then you know a crazy controversy broke out online, with some Starbucks fans calling out the company for being "anti-Christmas" and "anti-Christian." The arguments got so out of hand that celebrities and talk show hosts came up with some hilarious (and searing) responses.
So it makes sense that this year the company has come up with a design that's much less minimal than last year's ombre.
The 2016 red cup features a sketched, slightly abstract pattern of holly berries, leaves and branches, and birds in white.
What's more, Business Insider reports that Starbucks might also roll out two more holiday cup designs this year. Stay tuned for updates as we wait for a direct response from the brand.
