UPDATE: August 15, 2017 at 10:58 a.m. EST
After a successful test run in Michigan this spring, Taco Bell is officially bringing the Naked Breakfast Taco to all Taco Bell locations starting Aug. 31.
The naked taco uses a fried egg for the shell, and is stuffed with cheese, sausage or bacon, and crispy diced potatoes. It's served with a half sleeve, so your hands won't be too greasy after scarfing one of these down, but if you're really opposed to the the naked concept, you can order it in a gordita flatbread instead.
Taco Bell is serving the tacos individually for $1.99, or as a combo for $3.99, which comes with coffee or medium drink and a hash brown or two Cinnabon Delights.
Taco Bell is unveiling the new breakfast dish with serious fanfare, offering customers in four cities the chance to reserve a table inside Taco Bell and test out the tacos early. The "Bell & Breakfast" events will be held in New York on August 17, Laguna Beach on Aug. 25, Austin on August 26, and Chicago on August 27. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
While you're there, make sure to ask for some breakfast salsa on the side.

To start, there's a brand new breakfast item that's once again rethinking the definition of a taco shell. It's called the Naked Breakfast Taco and it's filled with diced potatoes, sausage crumbles or bacon, nacho cheese, and shredded cheddar. But the star of this thing is definitely that the fried egg that serves as the taco shell.
As Consumerist reports, the egg is fried and flattened, then shaped into the shape of a taco shell. However, if you want your Naked Breakfast Taco to be "dressed," you order the taco stuffed inside a flatbread. To start, TB will test the new creation at locations in the Flint, MI area beginning April 18.
Then there's the Loaded Taco Burrito. As the name suggests, this baby blurs the line between taco and burrito. Stuffed with a double portion of seasoned beef, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, crispy red tortilla strips, sour cream, and avocado ranch, the hand-held snack is wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla. The burrito goes for $1.49 and will appear at Taco Bell locations starting Thursday, April 6, Brand Eating reports.
The most outlandish of the set is the Mexican Crispy Chicken Pizza. This uniquely Taco Bell mash-up features a Mexican pizza shell, nacho cheese sauce, crispy chicken, Mexican pizza sauce, a three-cheese blend, and pico de gallo. It will be tested with customers in Columbus, OH, starting April 6.
