Let's be real, weddings rarely happen without any mishaps or surprises. The combination of excitement and stress, plus tons of friends and family, just leads to some pretty crazy days. A recent AskReddit thread asked the wedding planners of Reddit to reveal the worst thing a bride or groom ever did, and their stories will make your wedding seem like heaven on earth.
1. The Uninvited
AnaphylacticHippo says that once an ex-fiancée came to a reception uninvited, grabbed the wedding cake, and threw it at the newlyweds. Oh, and she also grabbed the wine bottles from the table and threw them to the ground. Not the best start to a party.
2. The Epic Meltdown
One planner, sillykitty1990, says that a bride had a meltdown because her friend was planning to get married in the same year, even though the bride's wedding was in October and her friend's was in June.
3. The Mother of the Bride
Is there such a thing as a momzilla? Girlfridayfail says the groom's mom called to change the date of the wedding, but when Girlfridayfail called to confirm it with the couple, they said they knew nothing about it and to just ignore the mother.
4. The Inappropriate Call
ClassicJenny says her friend, who's a wedding planner, got a call from one bride a few days before her wedding. Was the call about flowers or the venue? Nope. The bride called to say she was in love with the planner!
5. The Latecomers
Toronto_Planner says a groom was 30 minutes late for the ceremony and the bride was also two hours late. Then, the couple got drunk in the limo and ended up falling asleep. They were so late to the reception that half the guests left before they even arrived.
6. The Yelp Reviewer
Toronto_Planner also says that a bride raved about how much she enjoyed the food only to then write the caterer a bad review on Yelp. The bride said she would only remove the review unless the caterer gave her a discount.
7. The Almost Runaway Groom
In general, it's good to be on time to events, but especially when it's your wedding day. Bebemochi says that a groom showed up three hours late to the ceremony and had also picked up his tux two hours after the ceremony was supposed to start. To make matters worse, the bride was six months pregnant and throwing up the entire time.
8. The Sheer Madness
Just a thought: Your wedding day might be the wrong time to be asking for fashion advice. Tea_Lady105 once had a bride who was about to walk down the aisle ask what she thought about her custom gown. "I realize that is is completely sheer," Tea_Lady1005 says. "To top it off, she is nude as the day she was born."
9. The White-Out
You know the rule that you're not supposed to wear white to someone else's wedding. Well, Dangernj saw a bride pour a gravy boat of A1 sauce all over a guest who was wearing a white pantsuit to the wedding. "But that one was sort of funny, and the pantsuit lady sort of deserved it," Dangernj says.
10. The Rewrite
Lindtbunnies says that a bride interrupted her own ceremony because she wasn't happy with her future husband's vows. At first, she asked him to leave and come up with better ones, but then ended up walking back up the aisle herself and returning with new vows for her husband. I guess some surprises don't go over so well?
