Far Out! Hostess Launches Retro Packaging

Trippin' Twinkies, dy-no-mite Ding Dongs, and totally hip Ho Hos - now
available in a grocery store near you. Hostess is getting groovy with a limited run of retro packaging
featuring "snack mascots" from the 70s like Captain CupCake, King Ding Dong,
and Twinkie the Kid.

The kid-friendly characters were introduced in 1970, three years after
Hostess added HoHos and DingDongs to its snack cake line, quickly becoming synonymous with the pastries through commercials, cartoons, and print ads. The
nostalgic wrappers will be available through April 30th and are
being launched simultaneously with the return of Twinkie's original banana
cream filling.

strawberry shortcake pans outside of berry season, James Dewar, of Continental
Baking Company/Hostess creates a recipe for golden sponge cake filled with
banana crème. Twinkies, packaged in pairs and sold two for a nickel, are born.
