Way back around Thanksgiving, TheNextTycoon received a festive package of Sixlets candy and Pearls in holiday colors. I made a small turkey mosaic out of the chocolates (check out TheNextTycoon's to see the picture), but oh how far the candy mosaic process has come since then. While constructing our turkey, I found that Sixlets and Pearls fit together perfectly and decided what any half-crazy candy lover would — to see just how far I could push the candy construction possibilities. Using only Shimmer Sixlets, Shimmer Pearls, and Shimmer Gumballs, I set about recreating van Gogh's The Starry Night; here are the results:
If that sky doesn't give you sweet dreams, we don't know what will.
A close up of one of the swirls. You can see how the Sixlets and Pearls can be varied to fit together into a mosaic.
From the side you can better see the different sizes of the Sixlets, Pearls, and the gumballs that were used for the largest stars in the sky.
To try to recreate the iconic painting, I broke down the brush strokes into three different sizes to decide which candy to use. The pearlescent sheen of the candy was perfect for making the stars pop.
