Leave it to grandma to get everyone's attention on a tour bus — and really get the party started. Somewhere between the misty, pebble-strewn walkways of the Cushendun Caves and the rickety bridge along Giant's Causeway in Belfast, Ireland, she piped up suddenly: "You want a porn star to do what?!"

This was a Game Of Thrones tour filled with fans who've seen it all (Dragons! Twincest! Spoiler: Jon Snow's butt!), but the mere mention of a porn star got everybody quiet, fast.

"No, no, no — a Porn Star Martini. My friends and I are obsessed with Porn Star Martinis, gram," the girl told her wide-eyed relative.

We'd been talking about cocktail trends in the U.K., and amid feverish outcries about gin-based drinks and prosecco everything, the woman piped up, adding that it's become her go-to drink, no matter where she is.

"It's a fruity martini served with a shot of prosecco on the side," she explained.

I'd never heard of such a drink, but a quick Google search proved just how out of touch I was. Douglas Ankrah, founder of LAB in London, invented the drink in the early 2000's. He'd gotten his start as a bartender at a Hard Rock Café in the area, eventually moving on to Townhouse and LAB — and invent the drink he'd soon become synonymous with.

The drink's a far cry from the classic martini. It uses a mix of vanilla-infused sugar, passion fruit purée, Passoa (a passion fruit liqueur) and vanilla vodka. The whole thing's shaken and strained, according to a tutorial video LAB posted, and garnished with a piece of passion fruit. Then it's served with a shot glass full of Champagne to cut the sweetness.

Originally, Ankrah called it the Maverick Martini — after a club in South Africa — but later renamed it the "Porn Star" because of all the passion fruit in it, according to Bols Vodka. Considering the fruit's often noted as an aphrodisiac, the adult-movie reference seemed spot-on: Both could get you in the mood, if that's what you're into.

While LAB closed in Fall 2016, the drink lives on, with recipes and tutorial videos all over the web. And naturally, we had to get in on the action, paying homage to the original with our own twist on the drink. It's fruity, lively, and guaranteed to get everyone's attention.
