National coffee powerhouse Starbucks announced that by 2015, it will allow customer around the country to order (and pay) ahead of time through their smartphone app — which means less waiting in line during those treacherous pre-caffeine morning hours.
As Fox 6 reports, Portland-area outposts will be the first to receive the new feature, and the rest of the country will have access to the program next year. The idea was announced earlier this year, but the rollout is now concretely planned. The ability to tip your trusty barista without ever exchanging physical cash has already been implemented at many of the coffee chain's outposts around the country.

To promote customer use of the new payment system, Starbucks has also said that 10 lucky people who pay with the app or a Starbucks pre-paid card will be entered to win the "Starbucks for Life" contest. Winners of the contest will receive one free food or drink menu item every day for the next three decades.
